Bachchan couple's assets cross Indian Rs 1,578 crore

Jaya Bachchan, who is contesting for her fifth term in the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh as a Samajwadi Party candidate, has declared her and her husband Amitabh Bachchan's assets in the election affidavit.
The affidavit shows that the Bachchans have a combined net worth of more than Indian Rs 1,578 crore, comprising movable and immovable assets.
The affidavit reveals that Jaya Bachchan has a personal wealth of Rs 1.63 crore, while Amitabh Bachchan has Rs 273.74 crore for the fiscal year 2022-23.
Their movable assets amount to Rs 849.11 crore, which include bank balances, jewellery, vehicles and other investments. Their immovable property is valued at Rs 729.77 crore, which include land, buildings and a solar plant.
Jaya Bachchan owns jewellery worth Rs 40.97 crore and a car worth Rs 9.82 lakh, while Amitabh Bachchan owns jewellery worth Rs 54.77 crore and 16 vehicles worth Rs 17.66 crore, some of which are luxury brands like Mercedes and Range Rover.
The couple also earns income from various sources, such as endorsements, acting fees, interest, dividends, rental income and capital gains.
Jaya Bachchan is one of the richest Rajya Sabha MPs, according to a report by the Deccan Herald last year. She ranked third out of twenty-seven MPs, with TRS MP Bandi Partha Saradhi being the richest with Rs 5,300.21 crore.

TRS MP Bandi Partha Saradhi was the richest of all, with Rs 5,300.21 crore, followed by YSR Congress' Ayodhya Rami Reddy with Rs 2,577.75 crore and SP's Jaya Bachchan with Rs 1,001.63 crore.
Despite Jaya's relatively low profile in the film industry in recent years, her return with Karan Johar's 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani' in 2023 marked a significant comeback.
Conversely, Amitabh remains a prominent figure in both televisions, with appearances in 'Kaun Banega Crorepati,' and film, with recent and upcoming projects such as 'Ganapath,' 'Kalki 2898 AD,' and 'Vettaiyan.'
Jaya Bachchan's journey in politics has been notable, having served as a Rajya Sabha member since 2004. Her renomination by the Samajwadi Party underscores her continued significance in Indian politics. She has served multiple terms representing Uttar Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha.
