Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar said the government has been struggling to provide relief to the people, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

““Electricity bills are being discussed in the country. After coming into power, the government aimed to bring down electricity bills,” he said in a media talk.

He added: “The federal government is doing what it can in the current situation.  The federal government has given a subsidy of 50 billion rupees to all electricity consumers using up to 200 units across the country.

“The Punjab government gave 45 billion rupees subsidy on electricity its fund. The Punjab government also took a good step and such steps deserve appreciation not criticism.

He continued: “The Prime Minister reduced the prices of petroleum products for the public on August 14.

Inflation was 23 per cent last year, while this year it has come to 11 per cent.  Inflation will further decrease

“All political parties should replicate this model in other provinces.

“Privatization of Discos, steps are being taken to prevent electricity theft.”
