CJP inaugurates Pakistan Corner, Allama Iqbal Room at Al-Ahzar’s Jakarta campus

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Gulzar Ahmed, who is on a four-day visit of Indonesia, has inaugurated Allama Iqbal Room and Pakistan Corner at the Jakarta chapter of Al-Azhar University, reported 24NewHD TV channel on Sunday.

Both, the corner and room, are being set up at the initiative of the Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta. 

As per the statement issued by the SCP, CJP Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Ejaz UI Ahsan are on a visit to Indonesia to attend the 2nd Judicial Conference by the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC).

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Indonesia Muhammad Hassan while addressing the Judicial Conference highlighted the brotherly relations between the two countries. 

Justice Ejazul Ahsan thanked the Indonesian government for their hospitality.  

As per the statement issued by the Pakistan Embassy in Jakarta, “On the invitation of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Indonesia Dr. Anwar Usman, S.H., M.H., the Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed is currently on a four-day visit to Indonesia to participate in the 2nd Judicial Conference of Constitutional and Supreme Courts/Council of OIC Member/Observer States.”

The Honourable Chief Justice is accompanied by Justice Ejaz UI Ahsan of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the three-day meeting of the 2nd Judicial Conference of the Constitutional Court and Supreme Courts of the OIC member and Observer states were held in a hybrid format in Bandung, Indonesia from 15th to 17th September 2021. 

“Only the Chief Justices of Pakistan, Turkey, Algeria and Gambia, being the member of the Working Committee were invited to participate physically in the Conference,” the statement reads. 

The Chief Justices of other member countries would join the Conference virtually. 

The meeting was inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo. 

On the side-lines of the Conference, the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Pakistan met his Indonesian and Turkish counterparts and other dignitaries. His Lordship will also pronounce Bandung Declaration at the conclusion of the conference. 

“The visit will help strengthen the cooperation between the apex courts of the two countries and provide an opportunity to exchange information and experiences of OIC countries related to human rights and constitutionalism,” the Pakistan Embassy statement reads.
