Second mpox case detected at Peshawar Airport

The Federal Ministry of National Health Services has confirmed that second case of monkey pox was reported in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Health said that the patient carrying mpox symptoms came to Pakistan from the Gulf countries.

The Health Desk at Peshawar Airport sifted the patient in time and the mpox test of the suspect has come back positive, said the spokesperson.

Federal Ministry of Health is continuously monitoring the situation and all airports have an effective screening and surveillance system, Coordinator for Health Dr. Mukhtar said.

He said border health personnel are working diligently at airports and points of entry.
