Demand for reforms in judicial system raised

Reforms in the judicial system have been demanded as the number of pending cases has been on the rise.
Talking to the 24NewsHD TV channel, a lawyer Saiful Malook raised the demand.
Reforms in the judicial systems are the need of the hour, the lawyer stressed adding that more than 175,000 cases are pending with the Lahore High Court only.
The situation in other courts is no different, he pointed out.
He said that full benches of eight to 10 judges should be made for decisions over all the cases regarding their categories and the relevant policies.
It was stated that a full-court meeting, presided by Chief Justice LHC will be held in the next week in which all the judges will participate and review steps necessary for ensuring timely provision of justice will be reviewed. In the session, cases under trial along with the pending cases in the Supreme Court will also be discussed.
Senior High Court judge Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan, Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, Justice Miss Alia Neelam, Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh, Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza, Justice Masood Naqvi, Justice Faisal Zaman Khan, Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh, Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry, Justice Asjad Javed Gharal, Justice Shahid Karim, Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi and all other judges of the LHC will participate in the meeting.
