The gold ornaments and cash of a citizen were swept from a private bank’s locker in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

A woman, Anjum Bibi, filed a petition in a local court of Islamabad that she got a locker in a private bank in 2018 and kept 12 tolas of gold and some cash in it.

“After a year, when I went to check the locker, the manager made an excuse of bank shifting,” she alleged.

“The second time, when I went to the bank to check the locker, another excuse was made that signatures did not match,” she added.

“The third time, I was told that the bank broke open my locker,” she maintained and blamed the branch manager for sweeping the gold ornaments and cash from the locker.

She nominated Branch Manager Farooq Iqbal, Area Manager Muhammad Adnan and Branch Operation Manager Malik Ehtisham in her petition.

“The gold and cash are not being recovered due to the connivance of the bank and the officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA),” she alleged.

“The bank broke open the locker because the fee was not paid for three years,” the bank authorities maintained.

“Two notices were sent to the locker owner, but they were not responded to,” they added.

The court, however, expressed indignation over poor investigations of the FIA and ordered a reinvestigation.
