Former prime minister and ex-Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday challenged the Punjab cabinet’s decision to nominate him and other party leaders in more cases of a serious nature in the Lahore High Court (LHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Making the Punjab government, home secretary, IGP Punjab, secretary interior and others respondents in the petition, Imran said that not only he was a former prime minister of the country but also the founder of the country’s largest political party. “The Punjab cabinet has recently given a green signal to a legal action against me and other party leaders for allegedly disseminating anti-state institutions narrative,” the former prime minister said, adding, “Since the provincial cabinet’s decision dated May 24, 2024 is against the law; therefore, it is prayed to the court to declare it null and void.”

Also on Wednesday, PTI challenged in the LHC the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) power to snatch from a political party its election symbol.
