Four dead as car plunges into River Neelum

Four persons were killed when the car they were travelling in fell into Neelum River in Choon area of Naseerabad in Muzaffarabad late Saturday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Police said that local volunteers, police and rescue personnel fished the bodies out of the river.
They further said that the car skidded off the road due to rain. However, nobody knew about it since it was dark at that time, the Force said, adding the incident came to light only in the morning when passersby spotted the car floating in the river.
They informed that all the deceased belonged to Jhaing village.
Accidents in Neelum River are not uncommon. As many as 10 tourists had drowned after their jeep went out of control and fell into a river in Neelum Valley on May 1, 2023.
The accident took place in Phalawi village of Sharda Tehsil in Upper Wadi.
According to the police, 14 people, including 12 tourists, were travelling in the jeep. Four injured persons had been shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
