Ravichandran Ashwin, the ace spinner from India, has spotlighted Pakistan as a force to reckon with in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Labeling them as 'favourites', he emphasises that while Sri Lanka clinched the championship in the previous T20 format, the current fervor revolves around Pakistan and India, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

On his YouTube channel, Ashwin elucidated that the cornerstone of Pakistan's potential success lies with Babar Azam, their captain, and the wicket-keeper batsman, Mohammad Rizwan. If the duo maintains their present form, they could be formidable challengers for all teams in both the Asia Cup and the forthcoming ODI World Cup.

Delving into specifics, Ashwin remarked, "The magic of Pakistan's team is heavily contingent on the consistent showings of Babar and Rizwan. If they anchor the middle-order with steady performances, Pakistan is poised to be an indomitable force in the Asia Cup and World Cup."

Discussing the reasons behind flagging Pakistan as a favourite for the Asia Cup, Ashwin pointed to their deep reservoir of talent. "Pakistan's cricketing legacy is enriched with remarkable talents, and this is evident from their stockpile of fast bowlers and the striking prowess they demonstrated in the late 90s and 2000s," he observed. Ashwin attributed their resurgence over the last half-decade to the exposure from global leagues and the advent of their own PSL. He was quick to highlight the massive representation of Pakistani players in recent BBL drafts.

Kicking off Asia Cup 2023 is the showdown between Pakistan and Nepal at Multan Cricket Stadium. With the wind in their sails following a 3-0 series win over Afghanistan, Pakistan is primed and ready for the contest. Ashwin Singles Out Pakistan as the Team to Beat in Asia Cup 2023.
