Tropical Cyclone Asna is intensifying and is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds to the coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan over the next 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.

The storm system, which may escalate into a "cyclonic storm" by tonight, poses a significant risk of urban flooding and damage to infrastructure in the affected regions.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued warnings of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in various districts, including Karachi, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, Hyderabad, Matiari, Umarkot, Mirpur Khas, and Sanghar. Additionally, Jamshoro, Dadu, and Shaheed Benazirabad are expected to experience strong winds and heavy showers.

In Balochistan, the districts of Hub, Lasbela, Awaran, Kech, and Gwadar are likely to receive intermittent rains from August 30 to September 1. Gale-force winds with speeds of 50-60 kmph are anticipated over the sea, increasing the risk of floods and inundation in coastal areas.

Authorities have warned of potential damage to weak infrastructure and crops due to the storm's impact. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea between August 31 and September 1, and the public is urged to avoid visiting seashores and coastal areas. The threat of tornadoes also necessitates caution around billboards, power poles, solar panels, and other loose structures.

The situation is being closely monitored, and residents in the affected areas are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
