The core committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has shown concerns about its candidates' defeat in the vote recount, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
According to a statement on Friday, the committee decided the party will mark Eid Miladun Nabi with religious fervour. The committee reiterated the party's resolve to back Imran Khan in the Oxford University chancellor election.
It said: “In the National Assembly, the party will oppose any bill against the constitution. Any bill that affects the independence of the judiciary will be challenged in court.”
The committee decided to issue a party ticket to Hasan Mustafa in NA-171 Rahim Yar Khan.
The core body showed concerns at the defeat of PTI candidates in the vote recount in NA-181, NA-154 and NA-79.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Zulfiqar Ahmed a winner in the NA-79 constituency following a recount. This result reduces Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) seats in the National Assembly.
According to the ECP’s notification, Zulfiqar Ahmed secured victory after the recount, defeating PTI-supported candidate Ehsan Ullah Warraich. The recount showed Ahmed bagged 95,604 votes, while Warraich received 92,581 votes.
