Utility Stores receive higher bids for sugar purchase

Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan have opened tenders for the purchase of 70 thousand metric tons of sugar, sources said on Wednesday.

 However, the bids received were higher by Rs 17.10 per kg compared to the last tender, sources added. The lowest bid was found at Rs 142 per kg of utility stores, while the purchase price will be around Rs 155 per kilo of sugar, according to sources.

Sources said that they are reviewing the bids received for sugar and a decision is yet to be made regarding sugar procurement through utility stores.

Utility stores had invited bids under the tender for 70 thousand metric tons of sugar to ensure availability in the month of Ramadan, sources said.

Utility stores had earlier bought 40 thousand tonnes of sugar in November at the rate of Rs 124.90 per kg, sources added. The After adding the cost, the final rate of the sugar was around Rs 138 per kg, sources said.
