A court in Islamabad on Saturday sent former National Assembly (NA) speaker and senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser to jail on a judicial remand, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Earlier, Qaiser was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate Qudrutullah.

During the hearing, the SHO requested the court to grant judicial remand of the PTI leader, saying it was required so that the anti-corruption department officials could take him along with them.

Assistant lawyer for the PTI, on the other hand, requested the magistrate to wait a little longer since Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was on his way, and would reach the court shortly.

Following the court order, the police took him to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Police had arrested Asad Qaiser yesterday from his residence in Bani Gala area of Islamabad in a graft case.
