Land scam worth 5 billion unearthed in Lahore

A land scam worth more than Rs 5 billion has been unearthed by an inquiry report in which patwaris and private men are involved in preparing bogus mutation documents of 250 kanals of land situated in various areas of Niaz Baig Circle, Lahore, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
According to reports, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Lahore has sent a reference to DG Anti-Corruption Punjab against the forgery of patwaris.
In the initial investigation, Patwari Khadim Hussain of Mouza Niaz Baig, Naib Office Qanungo, Khawar Aziz Cheema, Munshi Muhammad Ashraf, Munshi Muhammad Adnan, and Munshi Irfan were found to be involved in the forgery scandal.
During the initial investigation, it emerged that Niaz Baig Patwari Circle of tehsil City was involved in record tampering of land ownership and prepared bogus documents for more than 50 excluded mutations. It also revealed that the Niaz Baig Patwari Circle had also prepared fake documents of lands in the posh areas. The investigators claimed to have found evidence against Moza Niaz Baig’s Patwari Khadim Hussain, Munshi Irfan and others.
