Karachi police have arrested a private school’s principal from the Gulshan Hadid area, on charges of sexually assaulting and blackmailing more than two dozen female teachers and other staff members, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

According to details, the accused identified as Irfan Memon was not only the owner of the school but also the principal. He used to lure the female teachers with promises of employment and subjected them to harassment. He also recorded CCTV footage of them, using it for blackmail.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Hasan Sardar confirmed the development and said the accused was apprehended on the complaints of the people and they have recovered more than 25 obscene videos from the principal’s mobile phone related to the harassment of women. After reviewing the evidence, the police have registered a case against him, he added.

He continued that the police acquired all the evidence against the arrested accused. Irfan is involved in blackmailing and extortion, he said.

SSP Malir also said that they are also in contact with the affected women. He mentioned that so far, five victims have been identified.

 He said that the police would also take statements from electricians named Ali and Shakil, who installed CCTV cameras.

The delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami also applied to Malir police regarding the principal.
