A petrol-laden oil tanker overturned on the National Highway near Oliyaabad, Nawabshah, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to the Motorway Police, the tanker, carrying 50,000 litres of petrol, was en route from Karachi to Punjab when it lost balance and flipped over.

As a result, petrol started leaking from the tanker, prompting authorities to close the highway to all traffic as a precautionary measure.

Both the tanker driver and the cleaner sustained injuries in the accident and were transported to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Qazi Ahmed for medical treatment.

Rescue teams, fire brigade personnel, the Mukhtiarkar of Qazi Ahmed, and senior officials from the Motorway Police have reached the accident site to manage the situation and secure the area.
