“It was in my mind that we can easily win if Fakhar stays on the wicket, for we have won 90 percent of the matches whenever Fakhar plays such innings,” Babar said.
“When I came to bat, Fakhar told me the pitch is good, and we have to take our partnership till 20 overs at least. We did not have any plan regarding rain at that time,” he added.
“Then clouds came all of a sudden, and we devised a new strategy to play the match [for a win],” he stated.
“The pitch was pretty good honestly speaking. It was perhaps better than all the pitches we played our World Cup matches on,” Fakhar said.
It is to be noted here that Pakistan won a crucial World Cup match against New Zealand by 21 runs via the DLS method.
Fakhar Zaman hit a fiery 126 off 81 balls. His partnership with skipper Babar Azam powered Pakistan to a win over New Zealand.
