Yamaha Motor Company has sent shockwaves through its customer base by announcing significant price hikes across several of its motorcycle models, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday.
Effective from September 6, 2023, these price increases are attributed to escalating raw material costs and the strengthening of the US dollar against the Pakistan rupee.
One of the most notable price adjustments is for the Yamaha YB125Z, which now bears a price tag of Rs 396,000 after a substantial increase of Rs 15,500.
Meanwhile, the Yamaha YB125Z-DX has seen a similar hike of Rs 15,500, bringing its new price to Rs 423,500.
The Yamaha YBR125 follows suit with a Rs 16,500 increase, reaching a new price of Rs 435,500.
Additionally, the Yamaha YBR125G (Matt Dark Grey/Matt Orange) has surged by Rs 17,000 to Rs 453,000, while the Yamaha YBR125G (Red/Black) is now priced at Rs 456,000, representing a Rs 17,000 increase.
The primary driving force behind these price hikes is the relentless surge in raw material prices, which has exerted immense pressure on Yamaha's manufacturing costs.
These price increases were deemed necessary even as the company sought to mitigate the impact of the costly dollar. The volatile exchange rate between the US dollar and the Pakistan rupee has added to the challenges faced by the motorcycle manufacturer.
