A gang producing fake Pakistani IDs for foreign Afghans was arrested in Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Monday.
According to the report, Hangu's District Police Officer, Nisar Ahmad Khan held a press conference to announce the apprehension of a notorious gang engaged in the production of counterfeit identity cards.
He said this 14-member gang specialized in providing forged Pakistani national identity cards to foreign Afghan nationals. Among the individuals involved in this illicit operation were officials from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), including a village secretary, he said.
The DPO said law enforcers successfully apprehended six individuals from the group, including the village secretary. He added that the gang had been charging Afghan clients a staggering Rs0.9 million for a fake identity card.
Shockingly, the gang adopted a fraudulent scheme involving an elderly woman by duping her into surrendering her identity card and personal documents under the pretext of Zakat contributions.
DPO Nisar said legal actions have been initiated against the accused, invoking the Foreign Ordinance.
