Federal Interior Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal passes away

Federal Interior Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal passed away in Lahore on Wednesday after a period of brief illness, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.  

According to details, Sumbal had been unwell for some time and had taken charge as the interior secretary on August 20.

He was being transferred to a hospital due to his deteriorating health. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his illness on the way to the hospital.

Abdullah Khan Sumbal was a known bureaucrat who had held several significant positions in the government during his career. He had recently taken on the role of additional interior secretary in Islamabad, highlighting his dedication to public service.

His previous roles as Commissioner of Lahore and Punjab Chief Secretary indicate his extensive experience and contributions to the administration of Punjab province. His passing is a loss to the civil service community and to the country as a whole.

Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed deep sorrow and regret over the death of Sumbal. Mohsin Naqvi prayed that Allah may rest the soul in peace and grant patience to the bereaved family.

Minister for Interior Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti expressed his heartfelt condolences to Sumbal’s family on this occasion. May his soul find eternal peace and may his family and loved ones find strength during this difficult time,” he prayed.

Bugti said that Sumbal was a brilliant officer and his demise was a big loss for his family and civil service of Pakistan.

Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his grief over the sad demise of the veteran bureaucrat.

“Can't believe this saddest of the news about the passing of Abdullah Khan Sumbal. I have known him for about two decades. He worked very closely with me as my Secretary as well as in other key field positions. I found him a thorough gentleman whose professional and personal integrity was beyond any iota of doubt,” he added.
