A police operation is underway to rescue a man who was kidnapped by robbers in the Kashmore district of Sindh province, Pakistan.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the man, identified as Sagar Kumar, was abducted from the Gailpur Kacha area on Wednesday.
SSP Kashmore Amjad Ahmed Sheikh told the media that the police conducted a raid on the kidnappers' hideout but faced heavy resistance from the armed dacoits-cum-kidnappers.
The robbers used modern weapons and rocket launchers to fire at the police, injuring one policeman and killing one female passerby in the area.
The injured policeman and the deceased woman were shifted to the Civil Hospital for treatment and postmortem, respectively. The police spokesman said that the police have received information about the whereabouts of the kidnappers and are pursuing them with a heavy contingent of forces from across the district.
