The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has dismissed all four miscellaneous applications filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the intra-party case, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

According to the report, the ECP issued a 10-page verdict authored by Member Sindh Nisar Durrani, which rejects PTI's objections regarding the ECP’s jurisdiction over intra-party elections.

Additionally, the ECP dismissed PTI’s request for a postponement in the intra-party elections case.

The plea to suspend proceedings related to intra-party elections until a decision is reached on the commission’s application regarding reserved seats was also denied.

The ECP has advised PTI to approach the court for the retrieval of documents taken from the party office by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The verdict emphasised that, under Section 208 of the Election Act 2017, it is the commission's responsibility to review the legal requirements of intra-party elections.

Moreover, under Section 209(3), it is the commission's duty to examine the facts concerning the issuance of certificates.
