The federal government has introduced a series of austerity measures aimed at controlling public expenditure, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Finance.
As part of these measures, the Ministry of Finance has imposed a ban on the purchase of new vehicles and equipment for various government departments.
This includes a prohibition on the acquisition of ambulances, fire engines, buses, vans for educational institutions, solid waste vehicles, motorcycles, and machinery for hospitals, laboratories, agriculture, and mining.
Additionally, the Ministry of Finance has banned the creation of new posts or temporary positions and has prohibited government-funded medical treatment abroad. A complete ban has also been placed on all non-essential official trips abroad.
The Ministry of Finance further announced that all government posts that have remained vacant for the past three years will be abolished. However, procurement of goods and creation of posts under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) funded projects will be exempted from this ban.
