Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto has stressed the need for stepping up joint efforts for strengthening democracy, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

In his address at the National Assembly session, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman said the youth of this country are fed up with conventional politics and they have lost trust.

He added: “The policy of PPP is clear. We do not believe in the politics of hurling abuses at others.

“Despite being in the opposition, we abided by the democratic limits.

“We never went for using derogatory words in the House.

“We have a history of following democratic norms.

“The selected was sent home through a democratic struggle.

“For the first time in history, the opposition party crossed the redline. The Jinnah House and military installations came under attack

On May 9, the PTI workers took to the streets to vent their spleen against the arrest of the party chief in a corruption case. They attacked public property, state assets and military installations across the country.

Bilawal Bhutto said: “The opposition has not learned a lesson. It has turned opposition into enmity.

“The PTI chairman’s deeds defined his destination.

He laid stress on stepping up concerted efforts to strengthen democracy.

He added: “We have to be part of the Charter of Democracy. Institutions have to work within their limits.

“We have to draw lines.  We also have a responsibility to strengthen democracy."
