A man sustained severe injuries when a leopard assaulted him in a suburban area of New Murree in broad daylight on Monday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to reports, a ferocious leopard attacked a guard of a private colony in Mohra Syedan tehsil Murree. The injured man was roaming in the colony when the beast appeared from the bushes and attacked him.
Receiving information about the incident, local people reached the scene and shifted the young guard to a nearby hospital in a peculiar condition.
The incident has sparked panic among the residents in the area. There are several reports that the same beast has killed pet animals including cows, goats, and sheep of the locals.
Residents of the area threatened to protest in front of the Punjab Wildlife Office against the negligence of the staff.
The presence and attacks of leopards in the area have become routine for the people.
According to experts, a variety of rare animal species can be found in Murree, including the leopard, which inhabits the neighboring Galiyat region.
As the leopards are now starving after humans have invaded their habitat, the hungry leopards sometimes enter villages in search of food, they added.
