Due to continuous increases in electricity prices and taxes, 110 marble factories in Mardan have shut down, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Sunday.

According to the channel report, this closure has left thousands of workers unemployed and their livelihoods disrupted.

Marble industry owners have expressed their frustration with overbilling and load shedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

They urged the federal government to implement a fixed electricity rate in Mardan, similar to Punjab.

They highlighted that the Maximum Demand Indicator (MDI) has been raised from 500 to 1250 which they consider extremely unfair.

The factory owners warned that if the government's current policies persist, the remaining factories might only survive for another four months.
