Police on Wednesday registered a case against former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan nominating him in the murder case of a Supreme Court lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar in Quetta, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Police said that apart from the PTI chairman, other people have also been nominated in the case.

SC lawyer Shar was shot dead by armed motorcyclists on Airport Road in Quetta on Tuesday.

Police said Shar was on his way to the Balochistan High Court (BHC) in a vehicle when he was attacked by unidentified people on three motorcycles.

The slain lawyer had filed a petition in the Balochistan High Court seeking registration of a ‘high treason’ case against the PTI chairman.

Advocate Shar had pleaded that Imran had violated the Constitution by advising the president to dissolve the National Assembly, thus, he should be tried under Article 6.

The court conducted two hearings of the case and issued notices to Imran Khan and other parties involved.

The court was due to hold next hearing of the case today.

Imran has not submitted his response in connection with the petition to the high court so far.

The FIR against the PTI chief was registered in the Shaheed Jamil Kakar police station on the complaint of deceased lawyer’s son.

The case was registered under the murder and terrorism charges.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Special Assistant to PM on Interior and Legal Affairs Ataullah Tarar blamed Imran Khan for the murder of advocate Shar.

He alleged that Imran, who was already tainted with corruption, now also had blood of a lawyer on his hands. “There is no doubt that the ‘target killing’ of a lawyer is a murder of justice,” he said, adding that “the matter will be fully investigated. Shar’s blood will not go in vain.”

Lawyers boycott courts in Quetta

Meanwhile, lawyers observed a complete boycott of the BHC and lower courts on the protest call given by Quetta Bar Association President Abid Kakar.

The QBA also announced a three-day mourning to condemn the killing of advocate Shar.
