The Punjab government has rubbished the allegations of ex-CM Parvez Elahi, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

“The accusations are based on lies,” information minister Aamir Mir said calling accusing police of stealing a motorcycle and mobile phone from his residence a cruel joke.

The police did not take anything during a raid at the residence of ex-CM in connection with a corruption case, he said stressing that those who pelted stones and sprinkled petrol were arrested from the spot.

He added many people have recorded statements with the Anti-Corruption Department that they greased the palm of Parvez Elahi, resulting in the registration of a case, he added It would be better if Parvez Elhi avoid telling lies, the minister stressed.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and police conducted a joint raid at the residence of Pervaiz Elahi in Lahore in connection with a corruption case the last month. Police arrested 11 persons, stated to be staffers as they resisted the legal action. Anti-riot police personnel too joined the raid while Model Town SP Amara Shirazi and local police SHO were present on the occasion.

The legal team of Parvez showed up at the scene to argue that Parvez Elahi was granted pre-arrest/protective bail. As the raiding team led by the ACE regional director sought the court orders, the counsel presented a letterhead, stressing that the bail was granted by the court of Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh till May 6 but certified bail orders were not gotten.

The police made their way into the residence and nailed the resisting persons who pelted the police with stones and sprinkled petrol upon the lawmen in a bid to fend off the arrest of Parvez. Raiding team members reportedly sustained injuries too. The PTI president could not be found as according to the staffers he was not present at the residence.
