Rana Sana opens Integrated Border Management System at FIA HQ

Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah visited to FIA headquarters and inaugurated the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) which is a major step towards bettering the agency’s efficiency, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing at the event, the interior minister said the initiation of such projects will keep FIA up to-date. The inauguration of this system in the era of changing technology will lead to national integrity, security and protection, Federal Interior Minister
FIA officials gave a detailed briefing to the Interior Minister on the new Integrated Border Management System. IT was stated that the IBMS will be available at all immigration check posts and it will make possible to verify passports and Pakistani visas at check posts and airports. The new system will enable instant identification of documents and persons and also carry out an improved document reading through the optical character recognition system. The Facial Recognition System (FRS) will enable the authorities to verify passport and visa as well as identities of travelers. The new system will also make data verification possible through real-time database.
The IBMS is fully integrated with other agencies including NADRA, Directorate of Passport and Immigration, FBR and Police and through this system, malfeasance and misuse of powers will be addressed and controlled.
Rana Sanaullah also inaugurated the e-office in FIA. He said that the use of e-office is the need of the hour as it will improve transparency and efficiency and it will also save national resources. DGFIA assured to make the e-office fully operational in six months
Interior Minister also visited FIA Training Academy and addressed the officers under training. He said that FIA is identified as the most important institution in the country. The agency has very important responsibilities, it is imperative that the organization be professional. It is not only an investigative agency but also plays an important role in preventing corruption and abuse of power. The responsibility of immigration also rests with the FIA, Rana Sanaullah said. He added that handling the cases on merit will bear fruit. The only thing needed to improve the institution is capacity building.
Condemning the human trafficking and offering condolences to the victims of the Greece boat accident, Rana Sanaullah said that a lot of criticism was given by the public. An inquiry has been conducted regarding the accident and strict action will be taken against those responsible, said Rana Sanaullah.
