Six railway employees suspended over negligence after Hazara Express train accident

Six employees of the Pakistan Railways were suspended Tuesday over negligence after the Hazara Express train accident, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the Pakistan Railways sources, two officers of Grade 18 and one of Grade 17 were among the suspended employees.

Sukkur Divisional Executive Engineer (Xen) Hafiz Badrul Arifin, a Grade 18 officer, was suspended.

Karachi Workshop Manager Atif Ashfaq, a Grade 18 officer, was also suspended.

Nawab Shah Assistant Executive Engineer (Xen) Musharraf Majeed was also suspended.

Power Controller Bashir Ahmed, a Grade 14 employee, was also suspended.

Way Inspector Muhammad Arif, a Grade 12 employee, was also suspended.

Keyman Mr Kangal, a Grade 3 employee, was also suspended.

A notification for their suspension was issued after the approval of the secretary/chairman for railways.

It is to be noted here that the death toll in the Hazara Express train accident has reached 36.

Earlier, the negligence and incompetence of the Pakistan Railways officials were held responsible for the Hazara Express train accident.

According to the Joint Certificate Report, the Civil Department and the Mechanical Department of the Pakistan Railways were held responsible for the accident.

There was no fish plate to connect the railway track, and it was connected with a piece of wood.

However, both these departments of the Pakistan Railways have refused to take responsibility.

Defects in the train engine, wheels and railway track were also declared a cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, the railway track in Nawab Shah was restored. The Karachi-bound trains were delayed as the track remained suspended after the Hazara Express train accident.
