FIA arrests human traffickers behind Libya boat tragedy

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two human traffickers, including the main suspect involved in the Libya boat accident that killed several Pakistani citizens, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.

The FIA Gujranwala Zone conducted raids in the Nowshera Virkan and Muhammad Nagar areas and nabbed Muhammad Javed and Muhammad Majid, who were wanted in three cases of human smuggling.

According to the FIA, the suspects had collected millions of rupees from the victims in the name of sending them to Italy illegally. Javed had received Rs2.4 million per person, while Majid had received Rs2.2 million per person. However, the victims died in a boat accident in Libya while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea.

The FIA has started an investigation against the arrested suspects and is conducting further raids to arrest other accomplices.
