Former chief minister Pervaiz Elahi’s principal secretary Mohammad Khan Bhatti has moved the court seeking to nullify his transfer from Mandi Bahauddin to Jhelum prison, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Ali Zia Bajwa heard the petition, in which the accused pleaded that facilities are not being provided in the Jhelum’s jail even for a grade 22 officer.

“The court ordered to provide special privileges for the accused officer of grade 22 in the jail,” Bhatti contended.

IG Punjab, IG Jails Punjab, the Chief Secretary of Punjab, and others were made parties in his application.

Muhammad Bhatti held that all cases made against him by Anti-Corruption Establishment are politically motivated.

The court issued notices to them and sought their replies.

Muhammad Khan Bhatti is facing corruption charges.  He was sent to Mandi Bahauddin jail. Later, he has been transferred to Jhelum.

Additional Advocate General Ghulam Sarwar Nahang appeared in the court on behalf of the Punjab government.

The counsel for the Punjab Government opposed the application of Muhammad Khan Bhatti.

He stated that it is not the right of the accused to be kept in the jail of his choice.
