PM Shehbaz orders maximum facilitation of Turkish investors

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to extend the maximum possible facilities to the Turkish investors in Pakistan to boost bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

The prime minister, talking to a high-level delegation of leading Turkish businessmen led by Turkish Minister for Customs and Trade Omer Bolat, who called on him in Islamabad on Friday, said that the Government of Pakistan desired to promote bilateral trade ties.

He said that the government was taking priority measures to take the bilateral trade to $5 billion as was agreed upon with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The prime minister said that the people of Pakistan and Turkiye enjoyed fraternal brotherly relations spanned over centuries and called Turkiye and Pakistan “one nation-two states.”

He also reiterated his invitation for the Turkish president to visit Pakistan and expressed the hope that the Turkish investors’ visit to Pakistan would prove beneficial to boost investment.

Turkish Minister for Customs and Trade Omer Bolat said that 54 Turkish companies had invested $3.5 billion in Pakistan. The Turkish investors expressed their satisfaction over Pakistan’s political and economic stability.

They also expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid sent by Pakistan to Turkiye after the 2023 earthquake.

Federal ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Abdul Aleem Khan, Awais Leghari and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkiye Yousuf Junaid also attended the meeting.
