Punjab IGP discloses details of his secret funds

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar has brought to light the details of the use of his secret funds, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
It is to be noted here that the IGP is not responsible for the secret fund provided by the government, but for the first time the details of the expenses from the secret fund have been brought to the light.
Dr Usman Anwar said when he had taken the charge of Punjab police, there were Rs38247,500 in the secret fund.
“Rs500,000 were provided to the Lahore senior superintendent of police (SSP) for a special project, whereas, Rs800,000 were provided in the beginning of an operation in the Kacha area of Rahim Yar Khan,” he added.
“Rs518,620 were spent for the security of sensitive installations and measures to protect lives and property of the citizens,” he stated.
“Rs1825,000 were given to the officers of Operations and Investigations branches. A very dangerous gang was eliminated by giving Rs200,000 to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Lahore. Another Rs100,000 were spent in Kacha operation,” he claimed.
“After all these expenses, the remaining amount is in the secret fund account. The secret fund will be used for the operational costs of dealing with dangerous criminals and terrorists,” he averred.
“All sums will be accounted for at the weekly executive board meeting, and it will also be presented to the public in the future,” he announced.
“It is our responsibility to account for every rupee received from the government, and we are prepared for it. Punjab police are actively working to eradicate the most dangerous terrorists, dacoits, robbers and anti-social elements,” he pledged.
“All the records of funds utilised are presented to the Police Executive Board meeting every week,” he stated.
