FBR posts 8pc increase in tax collection annually

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected Rs1185 billion during March 2026 and posted an increase of 8 percent in tax collection annually, reported 24News HD TV Channel on Wednesday.

According to sources, the Federal Board of Revenue was assigned a revenue collection target of Rs1387 billion for March 2026.

FBR collected 182 billion, less than the assigned target during the month of March 2026. The total collection of the Federal Board of Revenue reached Rs9307 billion over the last nine months.

During the first nine months of the current fiscal year, FBR was assigned a revenue collection target of Rs. 9917 billion, but it collected Rs. 610 billion less than the assigned target.

FBR sources said that Rs680 billion were collected under the head of different taxes during the month of March 2026.

FBR collected Rs318 billion under the head of sales tax in March 2026, and Rs77 billion under the head of federal excise duty (FED).

The Federal Board of Revenue collected Rs 105 billion under the head of customs tax during March 2026.
