Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi Monday held an urgent meeting of officials at Lahore Airport and announced forming a judicial inquiry commission over the Islamia University Bahawalpur scandal.
In the meeting, three members investigation committee convenor DIG Special Branch Faisal Ali Raja presented an initial report of the Islamia University scandal to the CM who took the matter seriously and said a formal request will be made to the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) for the establishment of a judicial commission.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, on the return of CM Mohsin Naqvi from Islamabad, an important meeting was held at the airport on the incident that took place at Islamia University Bahawalpur.
As per the decision in the meeting, the investigation of the Islamia University Bahawalpur case has been shifted to Lahore while the Punjab CM also announced that the anti-harassment cells will be constituted in all universities including Islamia University Bahawalpur.
The channel report said that the women professors will head the anti-harassment cells in the universities while a special anti-harassment cell will also be established at the provincial level and a female secretary will head it.
Addressing the meeting, CM Mohsin Naqvi said the university scandal belongs to our daughters who are considered commonly respectable for everyone.
CM Naqvi said the facts will be revealed by a comprehensive investigation of the judicial commission.
Provincial Minister of Higher Education Mansoor Qadir, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Additional IG Special Branch, Secretary Law, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Special Secretary of Higher Education, Convener of the Investigation Committee DIG Special Branch Faisal Ali Raja, DIG Internal Accountability Branch Syed Muhammad Amin Bukhari, Director FIA and concerned authorities participated in the meeting.
Co-Convenor Secretary for Mines Babar Aman Babar also attended the meeting through a video link.
