Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani said on Saturday that there was no need for the creation of a new province in Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he said Punjab was the only province whose assembly had passed a resolution, calling for the establishment of South Punjab province. “The Senate, too, has passed a resolution by a two-third majority, calling for carving out a new province from Punjab,” he said, adding that the people of Punjab wanted the creation of new provinces.
Ghani said it was no secret that every time the PML-N won, it won by rigging the elections. “Even a child knows that the party had lost the general elections held in 2024,” he said, adding Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had all lost their seats.
He said that the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had struck a deal with the establishment in 1999 and flown to Saudi Arabia.
The minister said that Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari had said that the PPP needed not lecture the PML-N on democracy. “Let me remind you that the PPP leaders and workers have sacrificed their lives for democracy in the country. We don’t need a certificate from you to prove our belief in democracy.”
He went on to say in fact, it was the PPP, which was in a position to lecture the PML-N on democracy.
Ghani said that the Punjab ministers had the habit of repeating the name of CM Maryam over and over again and attributing to her different achievements. “If the situation at Karachi Port is not better then it is the federal government’s, not Sindh government’s fault.”
He said that the Sindh government had no objections if hospitals were built in Punjab. “But don’t lie about Sindh.”
The minister said that the NICVD was the world’s best hospital where heart patients were treated. “As many as 8,000 patients from Punjab received treatment at the hospital during the last one year free of cost.”
