Fog leads to closure of motorways in Punjab

Rain and snow over the mountains in the country’s northern areas and Balochistan has again increased the intensity of cold weather, while on the other hand, different sections of the motorway were closed for traffic in Punjab on Sunday due to fog, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Motorways closed

Fog prompted the authorities to close M-11, a section of the motorway connecting Lahore to Sialkot, for traffic.

Similarly, motorway was also closed from Faizpur to Summundri.

Motorway Police (MP) advised people to avoid travelling unnecessarily. 

Meanwhile, rain was reported from Quetta, Chaman, Qila Abdullah and Pishin, while it snowed over the hills.

Weather in Islamabad

The weather will remain cold and partly cloudy in Islamabad during the next 24 hours.

The minimum temperature in the federal capital was recorded at 5 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

However, there was no chance of rain in the city during the next 24 hours.

Lahore weather

Fog reduced visibility considerably in Lahore on Sunday morning, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 10 degrees Celsius.

Breeze was blowing at a speed of four kilometers per hour, while the level of humidity in the air stood at 83 per cent.

On the other hand, the city, with AQI 183, emerged as the sixth most polluted city in the world.

Rain, snow forecast 

The weather department forecast rain and snow for different parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) until February 4.
