Amid severe shortage of consultant doctors in Punjab health department, Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) failed to finalise appointments despite the lapse of nine months, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According to the details, hundreds of consultant doctors were recruited under the Public Service Commission from March to July 2025. Owing to the inefficiency of the health department bureaucracy, appointments of the consultants became a distant dream.
The consultants in radiology, urology, pathology, orthopaedic, cardiology, general surgery, physician, anesthesia, paediatrics, gynaecology remain stranded as the doctors recruited under the Public Service Commission are deprived of appointment. There is shortage of specialist doctors in tehsil and district hospitals due to non-appointment of consultants resultantly patients were bearing the brunt of the negligence and inefficiency of the health department.
