Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has tender resignation from the primary membership of the Pakistan People’s Party citing differences over distribution of party tickets to the candidates for general elections, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

The spokesperson of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas confirmed that resignation has been dispatched to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan decided to separate after differences over the distribution of party tickets for the upcoming elections in Azad Kashmir.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan had applied to PPP parliamentary board for party tickets from the Central Bagh, Pachiot and Neelum constituencies.

According to sources, senior PPP leaders, including Governor Punjab, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chaudhry Riaz made efforts to persuade Tanveer Ilyas to compromise, but the attempts were unsuccessful.

Sources claimed that Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, along with several of his political associates, has left the party and is expected to announce his next political move within the next two days.

According to sources, he is likely either to join the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party or contest the upcoming elections as an independent leader of a larger political group.
