Two dacoits died during separate police encounters in Lahore and Muridke, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the report, the Lahore police encounter took place in the Kahna area, where a police party raided a site to apprehend the colleagues of the dacoit.
Soon after taking notice of the police party, dacoits opened fire on them, and the dacoit, who was later identified as Usman Butt, received serious bullet wounds and died on the spot.
Later, all the dacoits fled away from the scene, taking advantage of the darkness.
Police said that the dead was involved in some serious criminal cases.
In another police encounter in Muridke, a dacoit was killed on the spot when his colleagues opened fire on a police van in Muridke.
According to the details, a Crime Control Department (CCD) was taking the dacoit for recovery purposes in a police van.
When the van reached Mari Charan at Narowal Road, some colleagues of the arrested dacoit started firing on the police van in a bid to free him from police custody.
During the heavy exchange of firing, the dacoit died at the firing of his own colleagues.
The dead dacoit Imran, son of Zafar, was a resident of Loharanwala, and dozens of dacoity and murder cases were registered against him in Sheikhupura and Sialkot.
Some months ago, the accused also killed his uncle and aunt while they were sleeping in Muridke.
Soon after the incident, a CCD team reached the site and shifted the dead bodies to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.
CCD police started a search operation to apprehend the culprits.
