The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Hyderabad claimed to have foiled a major terror plot after arresting a key suspect during an intelligence-based operation in the Kotri Site area of Jamshoro district.
According to CTD officials, the operation led to the arrest of a most-wanted suspect allegedly associated with a banned organization. The suspect was taken into custody during a targeted raid conducted on the basis of intelligence reports.
During the operation, law enforcement personnel recovered hand grenades, explosive material, detonators, and a remote-control device from the possession of the accused. An illegal pistol along with several rounds of ammunition was also seized.
CTD officials further claimed that documents related to the collection of funds for the financial support of militants were recovered, including a receipt book allegedly linked to the banned outfit.
Following the recovery of the explosive material, teams from the Bomb Disposal Squad and Special Branch Hyderabad were called to the scene to examine and secure the seized items.
According to investigators, the suspect was allegedly involved in activities linked to the banned organization and was under surveillance before the operation was launched.
Officials said the recovery of the explosives and other sensitive material helped avert a possible terrorist activity in the area. A joint investigation by law enforcement agencies is underway to determine the suspect’s network, facilitators, and possible targets.
The CTD stated that operations against terrorist networks and their support structures across Sindh will continue as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
