The fourth meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Special Committee on the Radio Pakistan Peshawar incident was held at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, where officials reviewed progress on the investigation and legal proceedings.
The meeting was chaired by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and committee chairman Aftab Alam, and attended by committee members as well as provincial assembly legislators. Senior officials from the Home Department, Police Department, Law Department, the Advocate General’s Office, and the Assembly Secretariat also participated.
Officials briefed the committee that the purpose of its formation is to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident that took place at Radio Pakistan Peshawar on May 9 and 10.
During the briefing, the Additional Secretary Home Department informed the committee that the complete case has already been submitted to the court for hearing. The Advocate General’s Office also confirmed that the case has been presented in accordance with legal and judicial requirements.
The Advocate General further assured the committee that a detailed proforma would be provided to the police department to collect information on various aspects of the incident, which will be compiled and presented at the next meeting.
Chairman Aftab Alam stated that, if necessary, committee members may also visit Radio Pakistan Peshawar to inspect the site in order to examine all aspects of the incident closely.
He directed police officials to provide complete copies of the case submitted to the court to all committee members within three days and ensure implementation of all instructions issued during the meeting.
The chairman further instructed that all relevant records be presented before the committee in its next session to facilitate a comprehensive review of the matter.
