Swiss woman rescued hours after alleged kidnapping; suspect arrested in Lahore

Police have safely recovered a Swiss national woman who was reported missing after arriving at Lahore Airport and have arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged kidnapping case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to police officials, Sofia Maria Miller had arrived in Lahore from the United States on a Turkish Airlines flight. The case came to light after her disappearance was reported shortly after her arrival at the airport.

A kidnapping case was registered at Sarwar Road Police Station on the complaint of her husband, a Nepali national, who informed authorities after losing contact with her.

Police launched an immediate operation and succeeded in recovering the woman within a few hours. According to the spokesperson for DIG Operations, Sofia Maria Miller was safely rescued from a hotel located in Bahria Town.

The spokesperson said preliminary investigations suggest that the woman may have been deceived by individuals posing as tour operators. A suspect has been taken into custody, while further inquiries are underway to determine the full circumstances of the incident.

"The scope of the investigation has been expanded to uncover all facts related to the case," the DIG Operations spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, DIG Operations has directed the SP Cantt to thoroughly verify all aspects of the incident and conduct a comprehensive investigation.

Police said further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
