Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested 162 hardcore terrorists in 162 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in different areas of Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A CTD spokesman said that these operations were conducted in Lahore, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Rawalpindi, Chiniot, Mianwali, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Bahawalpur and Hafizabad.
The CTD arrested two terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khwarij from Lahore while one notorious terrorist namely Manmohan Singh was taken into custody from Rawalpindi. The arrested terrorist was a resident of Rahim Yar Khan.
The CTD personnel also recovered huge quantity of explosive material, three IED bombs, 23 detonators, 61 feet protective fuse wire, pamphlets, currency, mobile phones from the possession of the apprehended terrorists.
The arrested terrorists were identified as Salah Raza, Mohammad Riaz, Buwal Khan, Mohammad Younus, Usman, Manmohan Singh and others.
The CTD spokesman further revealed that these terrorists wanted to conduct terrorist activities in different areas of Punjab to create law and order situation.
The spokesman said that during current week 2,231 suspicious people were interrogated while 495 combing operations were conducted.
During combing operations 87,565 people were taken into custody for investigation. The spokesman said that the CTD is determined to keep Punjab safe and eliminate menace of terrorism from the society.
