The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Punjab on Saturday issued an alert for rains for a majority of areas of Punjab from March 2 to March 4, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a statement, PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia said there was a prediction for rain and snow in Murree and Galyat during the aforementioned period.
Similarly, the DG said, rains had also been forecast for Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal and Pakpattan.
He directed the commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain on their toes in view of the inclement weather.
Kathia also directed the WASA, Rescue 1122, the Irrigation Department, Livestock and other concerned departments to remain alert.
He also urged people to avoid travelling unnecessarily during the harsh weather, and in case of an emergency, contact on the helpline number: 1129. “The situation is being monitored from the PDMA control room round the clock.”
