In a relief to consumers, the federal government of Pakistan has announced a reduction in fuel prices, effective from May 1, 2025.

The decision was made on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), according to an official press release issued by the Finance Division.

As per the notification, the price of petrol (MS) has been reduced by Rs2 per litre, bringing it down from Rs254.63 to Rs252.63.

Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has also been slashed by Rs2, from the previous Rs258.64 to Rs256.64 per litre.

The Finance Ministry confirmed the changes in a formal notification, stating that the revised prices would be applicable for the upcoming fortnight. This move comes amid fluctuating global oil prices and is aimed at providing some economic relief to the public.

The updated fuel prices are expected to ease inflationary pressure, particularly in the transportation and agriculture sectors, which are heavily dependent on diesel and petrol.
