The 21st match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 between Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars at the Gaddafi Stadium was called off due to rain Thursday.
Gladiators had won the toss and opted to bowl first against Qalandars in the game, which was stopped after 11.3 overs due to persistent rain.
Khurram Shazad bowled out Fakhar Zaman for a duck in very first over but Muhammad Naeem and Abdullah Shafiq put the Gladiators bowlers to sword to add 102 runs for the second wicket before Aberar Ahmed got Naeem’s scalp. Naeem made 50 runs off 30 balls hitting four sixes and three boundaries. Abrar next removed Daryl Mitchell who could only score three runs to reduce Qalandars to 111-3 in 11.3 overs. But it proved the last ball of the match as gusty winds brought a dust storm that latter converted into substantial downpour that continued unabated forcing the match to be abandoned. Abdullah Shafiq was at the crease for his scintillating 52 off 32 balls as he hit three sixers and as many boundaries in his innings.
Both the teams got one points each as both teams now have nine points each with Galdiators have one less match played than Qalandars.
Islamabad United are leading the points table with 10 points followed by Qalandars who edged out third-placed Gladiators on net run rate for the second spot. Karachi Kings are on fourth with 8 points while Peshwar Zalmi with four points at fifth place still have a chance to make it to playoffs as they have played the lowest number of matches till now (6). Multan Sulatns with only win are at the bottom with two points and have already been eliminated from the title race.
