In the wake of the reporting of a case of monkeypox in the Pump House Ghundi area of Jamrud last week, the district administration of Khyber has imposed a smart lockdown in the area for 12 days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In this connection, as per the notification issued on Thursday, routes leading to and exiting from the Pump House, would remain sealed during the aforementioned period.
The notification stated that the purpose of imposing the lockdown was to prevent the spread of the disease.
It further said that shops selling food items, medical stores and general stores would remain open during the period of the lockdown.
In the notification, Deputy Commissioner Khyber Captain (r) Bilal Shahid Rao directed the assistant commissioner Jamrud and the police to ensure implementation of the lockdown.
It was warned in the notification that legal action would be taken against the people found violating the lockdown.
