Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has digitally inaugurated Pakistan’s first Rahmat Card programme, prepared for providing financial assistance to widows and orphans, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Friday, Provincial Special Assistant Rashid Iqbal Nasrullah gave a detailed briefing on the Rahmat Card project.
According to briefing, a record amount of Rs5,000 million has been allocated from the provincial Zakat Fund for the Punjab CM Rahmat Card.
As many as 50,000 widows and orphans will be given Rs100,000 each through the Rahmat Card.
Muslim widows and orphans who are legally entitled to Zakat under the Rahmat Card will be eligible.
Government employees or pensioners will not be entitled to assistance through the Rahmat Card.
One can also apply for the Rahmat Card through the mobile app.
One can apply for the Rahmat Card on the web portal (https://rahmatcard.punjab.gov.pk).

The selection of beneficiaries will be done through the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) database.
The final selection of beneficiaries will be made on the basis of district quota under the PSER database.
In case of non-registration in PSER, the applicant’s data will be verified by NADARA.
The financial assistance of the CM Rahmat Card will be paid through Jazz Cash Wallet account.
On the instructions of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government will pay the Jazz Wallet account service charges.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif instructed to ensure the use of Zakat funds on the basis of transparency, fairness and merit.
Addressing the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said Rehmat Card Programme aims to ensure the social dignity and economic independence of the beneficiaries.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the Rehmat Card project was started under the guidance of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the series will be continued.
“I wish that no widow or orphan child in Punjab should feel helpless”, Maryam Nawaz said.
“I believe in serving the people instead of traditional politics”, Maryam Nawaz added.
